Our unit has several very knowledgable speakers who can provide a fascinating program for your event or group. General subjects on the Civil War are open, but our unit specializes in Artillery and Cavalry. Rates are determined by your event location. Contact us for a quote.
Educational Programs
The 5th Ohio Light Artillery has presented programs at middle schools and high schools for many years in the tri-state area. Aside from providing an actual firing demonstration of a cannon, we offer short presentations of several facets of the Civil War in blocks as short as ten minutes to allow small group rotation. Stations we have presented include artillery, infantry, cavalry, medical and home life. The hands-on approach provides a great experience for students.

1812 Overture . . .
The 5th Ohio has an interesting special piece of equipment; a trailer equipped with 16 mortar tubes. The 5th Ohio usually performs 3 times a year with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra when their program includes Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. At these concerts, the 5th Ohio provides the authentic gunpowder booms!
If your orchestra is interested, we can do it. If you have an event that may require rapid fire live sound effects, we'd be glad to hear from you. You never know!
